June 20–23, 2025

Cultural Ibiza
A unique signature tour by historian Martin Davies.

An immersive journey through the island’s history — from ancient sanctuaries to contemporary art.
Why this journey is special:
  • A one-of-a-kind itinerary:
For most, Ibiza means sunsets and parties — but you’ll go far beyond the postcard.
Guided by the island’s foremost historian, you’ll explore places invisible to Google Maps and untouched by Instagram.
This is a rare, one-of-a-kind journey. No one else offers anything like it.
  • Personalized experience, every step of the way:
We believe true immersion happens only in a small circle of like-minded travelers — that’s why our group is limited to just 8 guests.
We’ll take care of everything: from finding the perfect accomodation and arranging transfers, to booking the best restaurants and advising you on what to pack and how to get to Ibiza in the most convenient way.
  • Slow travel
You’ll experience the very best of the island at a comfortable pace. Our itinerary is rich in content yet relaxed in rhythm. We’ll travel in a spacious minivan, with scenic breaks on some of Ibiza’s most beautiful beaches.
Over the past 3,000 years of civilization, Ibiza has been a major center of the Phoenician world, a Carthaginian and Roman port, a pirate stronghold, and later — a refuge for free-spirited artists, intellectuals, and hippies.

Unlike neighboring Mallorca, Ibiza has always remained open —
to new ideas, cultures, and people.

It was the wave of Jewish immigration in the 1930s that first brought the island to the attention of Europe’s cultural circles.

Later, the hippie movement and club culture would make Ibiza famous around the world.
We’ll begin our journey at the roots:
exploring a Phoenician settlement,
a Punic necropolis,
Roman watchtowers,
and an Arab fortress.

We'll also discover Ibiza as a cultural landscape — from rural architecture in a style of primitive minimalism to elegant villas in the signature Blakstad style.

Along the way, we’ll visit one of Spain’s first contemporary art museums, explore private collections, and step inside both local artists’ studios and
world renowned music recording studios.
We will experience important Ibizan rituals and the summer solstice celebration, vintage bars, and places steeped in unique stories passed down through generations.

We will also meet former hippies and delve into the history of the club movement.
You will spend 4 days in a company of like minded people.

Our guide will be Martin Davies
a distinguished Balearic historian, author of books about Ibiza, and someone who knows the island and its intellectual elite better than anyone else.

Over 35 years of living on Ibiza, he has gathered a unique archive of historical works, diaries, and maps.
This will be a relaxed and sensory journey revealing the depth and beauty of Ibiza hidden beneath the surface.

And of course, you’ll have plenty of time to soak up the gentle June sun, the soft pink-white sands, and the crystal-clear waters of Ibiza’s beaches.

Martin Davies
Ibiza’s historian and living encyclopedia
Martin was born in Liverpool in 1961. He studied history at Oxford and information science at Newcastle Polytechnic.
In 1992, he arrived on Ibiza with a bicycle and, just a year later, decided to settle here permanently.
His journey began with long walks through rural Ibiza alongside architect Rolph Blakstad and members of the TEHP research group, who study the traditional architecture of the Pityusic Islands (Ibiza and Formentera).
In 1997, Martin completed an in-depth study of Ibizan architecture and the ancient structure of local buildings — and he hasn’t stopped since.
In 2000, he founded Barbary Press, where he writes, translates, edits, and publishes books about the island’s culture. His portfolio includes nine popular titles, featuring vintage photography albums, travel stories, archaeology, architecture, history, local birds, early tourism, and even a beautifully illustrated children’s tale.
Over the decades, Martin has authored nearly 200 articles on Ibiza’s history, culture, and people for books, magazines, encyclopedias, and websites such as Enciclopèdia d’Eivissa i Formentera, Arquitectura y espacio rural en Ibiza, IbizaNOW, Ibicasa, Pacha magazine, and Liveibiza.com.
In recent years, he has also recorded dozens of lectures and podcasts on the island’s Jewish history, the mysterious goddess Tanit, Ibiza’s irrigation systems, architectural phenomena, and myths surrounding local legends like Elmyr de Hory.
Today, Martin is more than just a historian — he is a living encyclopedia, a storyteller, and a cultural bridge connecting Ibiza’s past and present. And on this journey, he will be your trusted guide.
